Someone to help you coordinate your care, find resources and take the next step.
Help Pulling It All Together
A care coordinator, also called a case manager, helps you line up care and handle the practical things that affect your health and stability. That can mean finding resources, helping your providers talk to each other, and working out next steps with you and your family.

How It Fits With Your Care
Case management works alongside therapy. Your clinician focuses on thoughts, feelings and relationships, and your case manager on the practical side of care, so both move in the same direction. Questions worth asking at the start:
- What can you help me with?
- How often will we meet or talk?
- How do I reach you between meetings?
- Who else will you talk with about my care, and why?
Common Questions
What's the difference between a case manager and a therapist?
A therapist provides counseling. A case manager focuses on the practical side of care, such as organizing care options, connecting with services, coordinating between providers and following up on next steps. Many people work with both.
Can a case manager work with my family too?
Yes. Case managers work with clients and, as the care plan calls for, with family, friends and other providers.
Does AHCCCS cover case management?
AHCCCS covers case management as a behavioral health service when a member needs it, as part of their service plan. Call us with your plan's name, and we'll help you check what applies to you.
